WHAT ARE MERCHANT ACCOUNTS

thank you for reading

Many business will like to be more competitive and profitable. Many business would like to make paying for products and services more easy. i think the best way to do this, is with  Merchant Accounts.

A Merchant Account is an account that is created with the aim of accepting credit card payments. Many banks and clearing houses  provide Merchant Account services. Merchant Accounts are used for all online and offline credit card payments.

TWO TYPES OF MERCHANT ACCOUNTS

Online Credit card ( card -not- present) Merchant Account
All transactions made online is paid into a credit card not present Merchant Account. Online payments only require a buyer to provide a credit card number (no physical credit card) and the transaction is processed, payment is made and funds are transfer into the Merchant Account of the business.

Credit card not present Merchant Account  has one important advantage, the bank or the clearing house who provide the merchant account, also create tight security for the Account holder. to ensure that no illegal transaction occurs and to ensure that the Account holder is the one using the credit card number to make a purchase.

Offline Credit Card ( Card present) Merchant Account
All payments made with an actual credit card is paid into a  Credit card present Merchant Account. this  involves an actual credit card. This credit card is passed through a magnetic strip reader to extract the credit card information after this, the transaction is processed and funds are transferred to the Merchant Account of the business.

Credit card present has little or no risk, just hand the cashier the credit card they pass it through their machine and the transaction is done.

 More on this later.
